The Zurich to Interlaken transfer is the main gateway route into the Bernese Oberland. Interlaken sits between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and is the base for Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mürren and the Jungfraujoch railway. Most of our passengers on this route arrive with hiking gear in summer or ski equipment in winter, and both travel comfortably in the car with you.
At roughly 130 km from Zürich Airport, Interlaken is a two-hour drive on a route that turns genuinely scenic for its second half.
Why Choose a Private Transfer from Zurich Airport to Interlaken?
The train from ZRH to Interlaken Ost takes around 2 hours 20 minutes and needs at least one change, usually at Zürich HB and sometimes a second at Bern or Lucerne. With skis, snowboards or large cases, changing platforms twice with a connection of a few minutes is the part travellers regret. Our private transfer from Zurich Airport to Interlaken gives you:
- Direct service — ZRH to your Interlaken hotel or chalet, no platform changes
- Equipment space — skis, snowboards and hiking packs loaded with you
- Flight monitoring — your driver adjusts to delays at no extra charge
- Fixed price — agreed before you board, not metered
- 24/7 availability — early departures for morning flights, late arrivals covered
The route is popular with families and ski groups. For parties over 7 we arrange coordinated group transfers across several vehicles.
What Is the Price for a Transfer from Zurich to Interlaken?
| Vehicle | Passengers | Price (one way) |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | 1–3 passengers | From CHF 380 |
| Mercedes V-Class (minivan) | 4–7 passengers | From CHF 410 |
The price is fixed and covers the whole journey from the terminal to your address, including ski or luggage load. For an exact quote, use the booking form. For chalet operators and repeat seasonal bookings, contact us directly.
How the Airport Pickup Works
Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Zürich Airport with a name board. Your flight is tracked in real time, so a delayed landing costs you nothing. The process:
- Arrive at ZRH Terminal 1 or 2 and collect your luggage
- Walk into the arrivals hall — your driver is waiting with your name
- Luggage and equipment loaded, depart via Lucerne and the Brünig Pass
- Arrive at your hotel or chalet in Interlaken, Matten or Unterseen
The same procedure applies across our Zürich airport transfer service for every destination we cover.
Return Transfer: Interlaken to Zurich Airport
The last day of a Jungfrau region holiday usually involves an early flight, and the rail route back needs at least one change with all your luggage. A return transfer collects you at the chalet door instead.
We work backwards from your flight. For an 08:00 departure you want to be at the terminal by 06:00, which means a pickup in Interlaken around 03:40. In winter we allow extra time for the Brünig and switch to the Bern route if conditions call for it.
- The same fixed price in both directions — the return costs what the outbound costs
- No night surcharge — a 03:00 pickup is billed at the standard rate
- Luggage loaded at your door — no station platform, no second taxi
- Flight changes absorbed — send us the new departure time and the pickup moves with it
- Car-free resorts covered — collection from Lauterbrunnen station or the Stechelberg cable car for Wengen and Mürren guests
Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Matten are collected directly, and the fixed price covers the whole run to ZRH. Every Zurich to Interlaken transfer we run is available in both directions at the same fixed price. If your flight moves after booking, tell us and the pickup time is adjusted at no extra charge; a cancelled or rebooked flight is a normal part of this route and not a problem at our end. Book both directions in one go and the vehicle is reserved for your departure date as well. For regular or recurring return runs, contact us directly.
The Route: Zurich Airport to Interlaken
The drive follows the A4 and A14 south to Lucerne, then the A8 over the Brünig Pass, past Lake Lungern and along the north shore of Lake Brienz into Interlaken. Journey time is normally 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes. In heavy winter conditions the alternative via Bern on the A1, A6 and A8 is used instead, and your driver decides on the day.
Interlaken itself is the transport hub for the Jungfrau region, with the railway to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and the Jungfraujoch leaving from Interlaken Ost. More about the destination at Interlaken Tourismus.
We also serve all other routes from Zürich Airport, including the city transfer to Lucerne on the same corridor and the resort transfers to Grindelwald and Davos.
Vehicle Classes for the Interlaken Transfer
Our Mercedes fleet is matched to the load as much as the passenger count, which matters on a ski route:
- Mercedes E-Class — executive comfort for 1–2 guests with standard luggage
- Mercedes S-Class — VIP standard, discreet and refined, for executives and private clients — price on request
- Mercedes V-Class — seats up to 7 with room for skis and boards, the usual choice for this route
Full specifications are on our vehicle classes page, and our limousine service covers VIP and executive requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions — Zurich to Interlaken Transfer
How long is the drive from Zurich Airport to Interlaken?
Normally 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes for approximately 130 km, via Lucerne and the Brünig Pass. Winter conditions or heavy traffic can extend this, and your driver allows for it when planning the pickup.
Do you drive on to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen or Mürren?
Yes for Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, which are reachable by car. Wengen and Mürren are car-free, so we drop you at Lauterbrunnen station or the Stechelberg cable car for the final leg. Tell us the resort when booking and we quote to the correct drop-off point.
Can you carry skis and snowboards?
Yes. The V-Class is the standard choice for this route and takes up to 7 passengers with equipment. For a full ski group we can add a second vehicle rather than leaving bags behind.
Do you offer early morning departures from Interlaken to ZRH?
Yes. We run 24/7, so a 04:00 departure from Interlaken for an early flight is routine. Allow the same two hours plus your check-in time when planning.
Can you take more than 7 passengers?
Yes. For larger groups we run several vehicles departing together, which is common for ski clubs and family groups. Contact us for coordination.
